About

We moved to Side, in Turkey, in October 2005 after getting married in August of the same year. The property we moved into was purchased in September 2004, after a whirlwind trip to Turkey, to specifically buy a property.

Our problems since moving to Turkey, mainly to do with our property, have been horrendous and we hope that anybody reading this and thinking of moving here will not do so in the haste that we did.

The aim of this site is to offer properties that we have looked at and inspected, for the common problems that properties in Turkey seem to suffer from. The huge majority of these problems could be avoided for very small sums of money but while the Europeans continue to buy property here without a surveyors inspection, some developers are going to continue to build to sub-standard. There are many first class developers in this area and we are happy to tell you who they are if you ask us.

Our biggest piece of advice is ‘Do not, under any circumstances, buy a property on a co-operative’. If an Emlak (Estate Agent) tells you there is no problem with buying on a co-operative, find another Emlak! Any Turk will tell you that buying on a co-operative is incredibly fraught with terrible problems, as we found out, to our cost.

You can find our story at www.perikoyvilla.com as well as a lot of very useful information, with regard to moving to and living permanently in turkey.
